Ekalavya’s Thumb
A servant girl watches the great archer's choice and follows where his sacrifice leads her.
In a cottage far from the grand arena of Drona, a young maid named Anvi tends to the household that raised one of India's greatest warriors. She has seen how he grows, how he eats rice, how he draws breath like the wind through tall grass, but she has never heard why his heart beats so hard when no one is looking. Now she watches as Drona decides the fate of his own son, a secret choice that will ripple across villages and temples alike.
When the day of sacrifice comes, Anvi finds herself caught between the shadow of the guru's vow and the small, trembling hand of a boy who gave everything he had for love. She must decide whether to follow him into the dark or turn back before the gods take notice.
