The Mice and the Elephants
A Panchatantra story: a very small king, a very large promise, and a great many teeth.
The elephants' road to the lake runs straight through the town of the mice. When tiny King Hiranyaka asks them to walk another way and promises to repay the favour, the elephants laugh kindly. They do not laugh for long.
