The Fish Mark
I took dead tatayya's knife to the sharpener for the sparks. Why did he stop pedalling?
Once a month a knife sharpener pedals his stone wheel in an eluru street, and an eleven year old watches every spark from the compound wall. Wanting the biggest sparks of all, he secretly takes his late grandfather's forbidden folding knife from the drawer. The sharpener turns it in the light, finds a small fish on the blade, and asks how his tatayya is.
