A Week at Sajith’s
The quarters flood, the couple move in with a colleague, and Lasya's thirty-three hours of Malayalam cost her a week of her marriage.
Monsoon in Anthoor. With a foot of water in the quarters, Pramod and Lasya spend a week at his senior colleague Sajith's house, where the husband cooks and braids his daughter's hair. A joke at dinner, a sentence half understood in Malayalam, and two mats a foot apart in someone else's spare room, until a six-year-old repeats what she heard in the car.
